Most MySiteReview reviews finish in under 30 seconds. When one does not, here is the plain-English reason and the next best step.

What’s happening: Some site builders send an empty shell first, then fill in the words and images in the visitor's browser a moment later.

Why it matters: If the first page response is empty, review tools and search previews may miss important content.

What to do:
  • Try the published public URL, not a preview or editor link.
  • If it keeps happening, ask your website provider about a more search-friendly page setup.

BLOCKED

Your site blocks automated review tools

What’s happening: Some firewalls challenge or block anything that is not a person using a full browser.

Why it matters: Overly strict protection can block useful tools, not just bad traffic.

What to do:
  • If you manage the firewall, allow MySiteReviewBot to read public pages.
  • If you use a managed platform, try again once or contact us with the URL.

FETCH_FAILED

Your site did not respond in time

What’s happening: We wait up to 15 seconds for your site to respond before ending the review.

Why it matters: If the homepage is this slow for us, some visitors may leave before it loads.

What to do:
  • Try the review again in a minute in case the issue was temporary.
  • If it repeats, ask your host or developer to check server speed and uptime.
HTTP_ERROR

Your homepage returned an error

What’s happening: This usually means the URL is broken, the server failed, or the page is temporarily unavailable.

Why it matters: Visitors may see the same error instead of your business homepage.

What to do:
  • Open the URL in your browser to confirm it loads.
  • If it fails there too, ask your host or developer to check the homepage route.
NOT_HTML

The URL is not a normal web page

What’s happening: We expected a web page but received something like a PDF, image, download, or data feed.

Why it matters: MySiteReview can review web pages, but not standalone files.

What to do:
  • Submit your homepage URL instead of a document link.
  • Use a public page address like yourbusiness.com.
SUBPAGE_LOCKED

Free reviews only scan homepages

What’s happening: Free reviews cover the root homepage, while the Site Report includes selected subpages.

Why it matters: Subpages often tell a different story and belong in the deeper report.

What to do:
  • Submit your root homepage for the free scan.
  • Unlock the Site Report to review your homepage plus additional pages.
RATE_LIMIT

Too many reviews were started quickly

What’s happening: Several reviews were requested in a short window, so the system asked for a brief wait.

Why it matters: Limits prevent one person or script from slowing down the service for everyone.

What to do:
  • Wait about 30 seconds and try again.
  • If you need higher limits, contact us.
CREDITS

Review capacity is temporarily full

What’s happening: Every report is generated by an AI analyst, and occasionally demand spikes.

Why it matters: Pausing is better than sending a rushed or incomplete report.

What to do:
  • Try again in a few minutes.
  • If it keeps happening, let us know so we can investigate.
AI_FAILED

The analyst could not finish

What’s happening: This is usually a temporary parsing problem or a brief timeout while creating the report.

Why it matters: We would rather stop than show a half-finished review.

What to do:
  • Try the review again.
  • If the same URL keeps failing, send it to us.
GEO

Your site only loads in certain regions

What’s happening: Some hosting or security setups only allow traffic from selected countries.

Why it matters: Helpful tools, partners, or customers outside that region may be blocked too.

What to do:
  • Check your hosting or CDN settings for country restrictions.
  • If the block is intentional, know that we cannot review from inside that region today.
AUTH

Your site requires a login

What’s happening: A login screen, paywall, or coming-soon gate hides the real page content.

Why it matters: Public homepage gates usually make visitors leave unless the site is intentionally private.

What to do:
  • Review a public URL for MySiteReview.
  • If the gate is accidental, turn off coming-soon or password protection for the homepage.
REDIRECT_LOOP

Your site redirects in a loop

What’s happening: This often comes from conflicting secure-connection or www/non-www redirect rules.

Why it matters: Search engines and visitors may both hit an error instead of your site.

What to do:
  • Check your hosting redirect settings.
  • Ask your developer to audit secure-connection and www/non-www rules.
INVALID_URL

The URL is not formatted correctly

What’s happening: A typo, missing dot, or unsupported character can stop the review before it starts.

Why it matters: We need a valid domain to know what site to review.

What to do:
  • Double-check the spelling.
  • Enter a simple address like example.com.
UNKNOWN

Something unexpected happened

What’s happening: We log these cases so we can improve the analyzer and add clearer explanations.

Why it matters: This is likely something on our side, not yours.

What to do:
  • Try the review one more time.
  • If it fails again, send us the URL so we can inspect it.
